Information Analyst/Research Analyst
The Role
The Information Analyst/Research Analyst role requires the individual to play an active and involved part in the process of collecting, gathering and analysing information. As an integral member of a project team, and being the first step on the analyst/consultant ladder, there will be a requirement to provide support in areas of telephone research, analysis and report writing, as well as handling client enquiries on market and business trends.
With increasing experience and sector knowledge, analysts typically get involved in frequent client contact, including participation in briefing meetings all around the world.
The key tasks associated with the role include:-
» Collecting qualitative and quantitative research data;
» Recording all collected information on a prescribed data base, in an accurate and timely manner;
» Undertaking preliminary analysis and forecasting, with the support of experienced colleagues;
» Contributing to the preparation of written reports, including the considered use of the intelligence gathered;
» Assisting with the response to customer enquiries on market and industry performance.
The Career Structure
As part of a well-defined career development programme, the company employs a graduated structure within the analyst, researcher and consultant hierarchy. The eight tiers are:-
- Information Analyst / Research Analyst
- Market Analyst / Senior Market Analyst
- Research Consultant / Consultant
- Senior Consultant / Principal Consultant

The Candidate
This is an ideal launch platform for a graduate who is considering a career as an industry analyst or in corporate or strategy planning. A keen interest in consumer technology, home entertainment, storage media and/or consumer electronics business sectors would be a significant advantage. What must be clearly evident is an enquiring mind and a thirst for knowledge; someone who is prepared to dig deep for detail. A good intellect, an aptitude for analysis, an appreciation for strategy and an ability to plan, are all essential attributes.
In personal terms, there must be clear evidence of a team player, someone who is keen to contribute and with a willingness to learn. An outgoing personality is required, someone who can communicate fluently and with confidence over the telephone or in face-to-face meetings. Over time, there will be ample opportunity for personal development as the individual develops a growing industry knowledge and demonstrates ability in the essential skills required.
The key attributes must include:-

» An enquiring mind with an appreciation for the value of research and with an emerging ability to think strategically;
» A competence in IT, with an ability to work in Excel and PowerPoint;

» Flexibility, including a willingness to travel internationally.
Location
The position will be based in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, 30 miles north of London and 10 miles from London Luton Airport.
